The Work Place, is a result of the culmination of the vision of Jane Ritchie (MBE) and the VOLT (Vocational Learning Trust) Charity and owes its success to the creativity and determination of The Work Place Team. Running as a trading arm of the charity, it is a non-profit making organisation. VOLT was established as a charity by Jane Ritchie after inheriting a large sum of money from her cousin Margery Freeman in 2005. Jane is an ex Durham County Council employee with a passion for helping young people to learn about the world of work.
As well as providing excellent conference & meeting facilities, we also offer office space and are also an established provider of training courses.
The building has been designed with environmental concerns in mind e.g. solar PV panels and ground source heat pumps and provides an excellent venue for meetings and events with outstanding conference facilities consisting of a large learning zone, a lecture theatre, meeting rooms (pods), exhibition space and break out space/social area.
